Description
Singing has a way of helping turn dreariness into cheerfulness, night into day and darkness into light. The beautiful text, written by the African American writer, James Weldon Johnson, was written around these ideas.
The music for this text came rather naturally as the text communicates a lot of moods and feelings. My desire was to communicate those moods through the music. As you listen to this piece you will hear the constant shifts between sadness and joy.
This piece is written for SATB choir with Divisi up to SSAATTBB
